Roles and Responsibilities:
• Provides System Administration support to the Data Center environment by performing all functions that require ‘root’ level access on the Linux servers to include networking and storage allocation.
• Provides Linux OS administration skills to maintain, manage, administer access and controls, and upgrades of the server infrastructure. Supports all business, infrastructure and interface host systems on a VMware platform as well as on traditional implementations.
• Install and harden Linux OS. Apply security and recommended patches on a regularly scheduled basis.
• Administrate multiple network interfaces. Setup and utilization of network interface card redundancy.
• Perform troubleshooting of system performance working directly with Application Administration staff to resolve issues.
• Perform system modifications to accommodate hardware upgrades. Perform OS version upgrades.
• Coordinate with the Data Center Information Assurance (IA) team to ensure the servers are maintained in accordance to DoD Security Technical Implementation Guidelines.
• Creates and maintains documentation and procedures for System Administration support.
• Analyze and coordinate system outages and interruptions

Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
•High school diploma plus 11 years relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux System Administration
• Must have minimum 2 yrs recent experience in a Production Support environment.
• Must have strong experience with Unix Scripting: shell, perl, python, php or equivalent from automation and monitoring standpoint.
• Must have strong experience with LAN and networking protocols and hardware as well as Storage Area Network (SAN) and storage (Net Backup a +) technologies.
• Working knowledge of a some of the following technologies: openldap, nfs, ntp, dns, postfix/sendmail, kickstart/cobbler, jumpstart, dhcp, yum, subversion, puppet, lvs, server virtualization (xen, kvm, vmware, solaris containers)
• Familiarity with server virtualization technologies
• Ability to mitigate/remediate results of IA related scans from RETINA
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance with SSBI (interim required to start).

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Engineering plus 7 years related experience.
• Oracle OBIEE, ColdFusion, apache, tomcat administration experience.
• Experience with monitoring systems (NetIQ or equivalent).
• Experience with Oracle 10g/11g, mysql, postgresql.
• CompTIA Security+ Certification.
• Solaris SCSA v.10 certification or Linux Red Hat equivalent.
• Active SECRET clearance.
• Favorable SSBI.
